Cryptomator is an open-source, client-side encryption tool designed specifically to secure your files in cloud storage services like Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud, or any other cloud-synced folder. Its primary goal is to provide privacy and security for your data before it leaves your device and gets uploaded to the cloud.
Your files are encrypted locally on your computer, using keys that only you possess.
Only the encrypted, unreadable data (often called a "vault") is uploaded to your cloud service.
The cloud provider never sees your unencrypted files or your encryption keys. They only store ciphertext.
How it works
The user sets a password for a folder in the cloud, thereby creating a "safe." To access the encrypted data, it is enough to enter the password. The data is automatically encrypted when saved to a virtual encrypted drive, which works like a USB flash drive.
